I thought one of the Managing Editors' duties was to assist in arbitrating questions. Any Managing Editors have any ideas? Oliver One Today, July 6, you closed out 14 of Tunesmith's submissions and 39 of mine. Bastien and the rest of us are asking for some sort of suggestions and guidelines so that editors will close out newer members submissions in order to help SHS grow. Do you have any suggestions? I understand and respect walt's decision. Just curious as to where you stand since you close out so many submissions a day of basically the same 3 to 4 people.

I added information to a new original for an artist/member if anyone cares to tackle it.

Submission #82098

Also check out Mr.Nai newer member joined 2024-06-10 he has 178 pending submissions. The only catch is that a lot of them are Italian performances. I'm not sure of everyone's language skills.

a) Perhaps the editors simply don't see this as a concern.

b) For the record, I will also sometimes improve some pending submissions during my lead and research phases.

1. I don't see the big backlog as a problem per se (for the reasons discussed on several previous occasions). I see no justification to criticize prolific submitters for doing exactly what we want -- submit covers -- and especially not for prolific submitters whose submissions have proven to be excellent over many years.

2. Is there any actual evidence, beyond an occasional anecdote or speculation, that "new" submitters (including artists) are discouraged from continuing to participate because their submissions are not verified as quickly as they'd like?

3. Would a notification to "new" submitters be valuable (along these lines, perhaps? Open/Pending/Unverified

4. I agree with Tar Heel about the emphasis on releases over performances, and pretty much for the reasons stated. (That's certainly been a negative for me, for several reasons.)

As a matter of fact I already had a chat with him 3 days ago and started processing some of his stuff, that was of my special interest: original versions of works.

JeffC as I said b4 "I looked at quite a few of those 2,000 member's submissions. I would say half of them came in one time, added 1 submission and never came back again. While others added a submission, left, then came back a few months to a year later, saw nothing was done to their submission, and decided never to come back again to the website. I'm guessing they got discouraged and figured why bother adding more."

You can go look at the list yourself and draw your own conclusions.

I'm guessing when you close a submiision an email is sent saying it was closed, might draw them back. I don't know.

I would like to thank the newer editors that are starting to look and add some newer members' submissions and closing out some of the older submissions. If you need me to help you or suggest any, give me a shout.

As a newbie on this site, I find DashBoardDJ856's observations and recommendations right on the money.

To mark the upcoming 50th anniversary of Helen Reddy's "Angie Baby" (1-month away from release, 3 months from #1), I thought I'd bring the entry up-to-date. There were already-existing unverified entries that went back years (which is very discouraging). I have since added over 30 recorded versions and nearly 100 web covers. I am hoping to bring people to the site so they can rate the versions and participate. I also find the recordings more important than the web covers.

To the editors, please consider verifying the entries for "Angie Baby." Should they remain unverified past the 50th Anniversary of being #1, my work will be for naught. Thank you for the consideration!

Anyone willing to close out this old submission from 2009!!!

I think there is enough info to close it out. I would if I could but I can't.

I haven't been an editor for 2 years now, but I'm still #1 in closing out submissions with 17, 831 closed.

Step it up boyz!!!

Still see newbies and artists that are members are being ignored. Unhappy

Well, here we are a new year and 6 months later and still nothing has changed. The same people closing out the same 3 submitters with submissions only a year or 2 old. No one trying to close out open submissions that have been here for 10 or 15 years. No one closing out new submitters' submissions. More foreign language covers need to be added. 13,000 originals open.

How do you expect the community to grow if you pretty much ignore everyone else? There were some suggestions made, here's one, maybe premium members submissions are closed within a certain time frame, you might get more paying members. I have some other ideas, but no one seems to care, so why bother. I keep asking what is your purpose and vision for this website, but never get an complete answer.

a) This suggestion seems reasonable.

b) These types of matters almost always just fade away like an old soldier.

Oliver One

So Oliver's solution to is to just close out 50 of my submissions so far today and no one else's.

Feels and looks like harassment, instead of a solution.

So there you have it, no one cares.

I'd be thrilled if 50 of my submissions were processed in a single day!

Bastien

That's the point!!!

So would 50 other newer members be thrilled to have at least 1 submission closed.

But hey, if you want them to be ignored and not grow your community of regular users, that's on you.
