This series exists in both labels… should only in Columbia [EMI] according to the logo?

Principally concerned: camembert electrique and of course the opinion of dany

In this case, the logo does not have an influence.

Here, the important data is the release date. We must stick to 1931 as the crucial year for distributing records between these two Columbia: USA and EMI.

This series was created in Europe before 1931 .... therefore:

Columbia [US] Established in 1888

  • DS xxx series -----> Including DS 568, DS 521 and DS 581 (all of them released in 1930)

Columbia [EMI] Established in 1931

  • DS (x)xxx series ----> DS 769 (released in 1932) and all subsequent.

NB 1

The word "Sweden" is better to suppress... because there are records made in the UK and Norway.

NB 2

The Columbia [EMI] catalog cannot own records prior to 1931.

DS xxx series -----> Including DS 568, DS 521 and DS 581 (all of them released in 1930)

That's because Columbia Graphophone Ltd. already used that Columbia logo prior to 1931 in Europe. I would therefore include those three with the other lot, also to avoid confusion.

Columbia [EMI] Established in 1931: DS (x)xxx series ----> DS 769 (released in 1932) and all subsequent.

I of course agree to that.

The word "Sweden" is better to suppress... because there are records made in the UK and Norway.

That's (only) where they were manufactured. All DS records were released in Sweden (like DB in Britain, DF in France etc.)...

I agree with Erik's reasoning, the whole series should move to Columbia (EMI) asap,

but with 99 items, this should be done by someone with more powers than me...

If I understood correctly, Dany wants to do as for the series [US] DB 1-563 [till March 1931] and

[EM] "DB 564-... [from April 1931 on]"?

Yes, like we discussed here Error report #57225

And where there were also different points of view

in the Error report #57225 discussion, jojo proved that the logo was already used before 1931 and dany agreed.

We should also keep in mand that the US Columbia was owned by the UK based Columbia Graphophone Co. Ltd. before 1931. That's the company credited on those three Swedish singles released in 1930.

Therefore, they also need to be attributed to Columbia [EMI].
