This original was not yet in our database. Apparantly it was written/composed by John F. Wade circa 1743 as "Adeste Fideles".

English lyrics seem to have been by Frederick Oakeley (and William T. Brooke) in the 19th century.

However, Carola sings a Swedish version, lyrics translated by E. Norberg. Do you know his first name? Do you know if he translated it for Carola, or if it existed before?

Thanks for picking up on that thread. The E in E. Norberg stands for Eva.

Eva Norberg (1915-2004) was a Swedish author and translator who among other things translated popular Anglican carols into Swedish. The Swedish version "Dagen är kommen" is one of fourteen carols she has submitted to the Swedish protestant Church´s current book of carols.

This particular lyric was published in 1978 and although the soon-to-be artist Carola (what an apt name for a girl singing the gospel) was a brilliant singer even as a child I do not think Eva had her in mind at the time.

'Stilla Natt' (Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht! ) is on a EP 'Julefrid med Carola' from Carola, released in 1983. I'm looking for the label and catno.
