I think I would dispute the whosampled entry here. I remember very well the controversy at the time of it's release that the similarities of Start! to Taxman were obvious. The track is credited as a Paul Weller composition. I think this is a case of plagiarism rather than sampling, although there was never a court case. Some sources refer to the baseline being 'based on' or 'borrowed' from The Beatles (rather than 'copied').

Yes Paul, that's what I thought too. It's not a direct sample, but Paul Weller and Beck very cleverly "used" the bassline of "Taxman".
Just like 10cc very cleverly "used" the The Beatles song Oh! Darling , when they wrote (Oh) Donna
