We have You're My Thrill and You're My Thrill — but they seem to be the same song.

Compare the videos to You're My Thrill (credited to Washington/Lane on the album) and You're My Thrill (credited to Gorney/Clare). This is the same song, fundamentally. The confusion even extends to the copyright databases: Pretty much all the performers listed under T-070.211.364-1 in ISWC also are listed under T-070.211.363-0 (not impossible, but highly unlikely).

I've seen some discussion suggesting that almost all of the performances are in fact the Gorney/Clare version, but that they are often falsely credited to Washington/Lane, e.g. on this release the composers were amended.

Does anybody have more information on this? I suppose one would have to find the actual sheet music, or the original movie to be sure.

I'm pretty sure a seperate song by Lane & Washington exists (See the different publishing links), though I can't find a movie clip or sheet music innerside to def. proof it. Apparently, the movie song wasn't a big success, only in terms of miscrediting some Gorney & Clare cover songs ever since. Unhappy

I moved a few items where I was certain, incl your video example.

Yes, I agree it exists. It just seems that nobody remembers anymore what it sounds like, and people quite commonly credit it anyway Happy

Nice one Joop, I was hoping you'd step in...

A pity, it's only the trailer, but apparently, we're looking at an uptempo song! that's already something, and a big help to differentiate both songs.

Thanks.

I agree. Though the theme is not explicit there, the feeling is clearly distinguishable from the other song.

Thanks, Jojo!

So it seems that at the moment, all that's left is the original recording—the other two performances we list should be moved to the other song as well.

And a stroll through discogs, allmusic, and iTunes did not yield any other recordings of the Lane & Washington version: Every single version turned out to be mis-credited.

Now, I'm gonna kill that son of a b...efore more damage id done.

Added comment in work: "The song is often erroneously credited to the uptempo Burton Lane & Ned Washington song from the same era. It was performed by Ted Lewis in 'Here Comes the Band' (1935), but no further recordings seem to exist."

Sorry for all that trouble, but I guess we straightened out a bit of music history.

Amazing that the other song really dropped from the face of the earth after one recording.
