Replying to "need info"

When a case (submission, error report) is lacking information, it is set to status "need info" in order to request more information from the submitter. Previously, if you answered without the requested information, it got immediately rejected. However, this is too strict in some cases, and the inquiring editor may lose track of the case even though the information request was not really blocking. Therefore, in such cases, the status stays "need info" and it's up to the processing editor to decide whether to reject or not.

Yes! We'll see how things work in practice, but this is a definite improvement to address a problem I have noted in the forum many times....

I'm a little confused... what do you mean "immediately rejected"?

Really? The auto-reject problem was discussed in detail in the thread below, a thread in which you participated:

https://secondhandsongs.com/topic/75594

I also provided an example of an auto-rejection under: https://secondhandsongs.com/topic/75823

I knew this one was going to be a problem, as you don't read post closing comments. That example:

Okay, I get it. Good improvement Mathieu, it makes indeed more sense to let the editor decide to reject or not.

I quote myself from another topic

So where does this leave my submission - Este Sediento de Amor by Cactus Country Band?

It appears in my rejected list but when I look at it it states Incomplete.

I assume Incomplete and need info are synonymous.

No, "Incomplete" is a closed/rejected submission. "Needs Info" is an open submission in a limbo status.

Given that many editors do not read new comments on closed matters and that it's not really reliable for those editors that do, you could private message the assigned editor for action or resubmit.

I assume Incomplete and need info are synonymous.

It looks like the fix is not retrospective, so previous submissions are unchanged. So yes, private message the assigned editor for action or resubmit as VV recommends.
