Dear editors & CC's,

For the first time in 16 years of SecondHandSongs we will attribute awards! Please cast your vote for:

  • the editor who created the highest quality entries to the database
  • the editor who contributed the most to the SHS project
  • the editor who contributed the most to the development of the SHS community
  • the certified contributor who contributed the most to the SHS project
  • the best website or database upgrade

Don't reply here, there is a form waiting for you. Voting will be closed on January 10th.

Very curious and excited to discover the results! Start campaigning! Wink

Read, although I must admit that I don't know the publishers much yet!

Wasn't originally going to comment on this other than the "read" confirmation, but got curious if there were nominations for the upgrade category. Since one appears to have to sign in to Google to even see the ballot, which is something I'm not likely to do, I'll leave the voting to others.

I will add that the upgrade is likely the only objective category, since those affect all site users. Moreover, if an upgrade affects a particular user more than other upgrades, that should impact their vote (i.e. bias is justified in that category).

Voting between editors and CCs is much more problematic. I can divide editors (and similarly CCs) into three categories, namely high, sporadic, and rare levels of interaction, most likely a function of musical taste overlap. In other words, I wouldn't feel qualified to vote for best picture when all I watch is sci-fi.

Read, but to be able to vote I would have to spend my time watching what others are doing ... which is not my case! Surprised

Try voting. See if it still requires you to log in.

Checked again and no login requirement now. Does require an email address, and now can't recall which one I used. Checked my SHS profile and the related options to see if it showed somewhere, but alas.... That may be something Mat was to look into....

Still hesitant to vote at this time for the reasons above....

I'm less concerned about the signing-in requirement (or not) than I am about lacking sufficient data on which to base choices that seem to me to be data-influenced if not data-driven.

Didn't answer the beauty pageant questions, just voted for the last question about improvements.

Read. However, neither I feel qualified to vote as I am not aware enough of all the editors/CC's work.
