Written for the musical production "Spread it abroad". Co-author Link is not mentioned on the early British recordings, his input is probably limited to an alternative bridge, which many performers prefer.
Although the database shows Turner Layton's performance as the first recorded, this is far from certain. SHS does not have the recording date of the Clarence Wright version, which could have been recorded after Layton's version, but which also could have been recorded sometime in 1935. - Licensing
