In English: "To Joy". An ode celebrating the brotherhood and unity of all mankind, first published in Schiller's 1786 review "Thalia".
Schiller later made some revisions to the poem, which was re-published posthumously in 1808 including the famous line "Alle Menschen werden Brüder". It is this re-published version that Beethoven set to music. - Licensing
