- Cowboy poet, Curly Fletcher, published his poem, "The Outlaw Broncho" in the Arizona Record at Globe on December 16, 1915. In 1917 he included a more polished version with the title "The Strawberry Roan" in a collection of his poems, "Rhymes of the Roundup." By the late 1920s, the musical group, The Arizona Wranglers, were performing a song based on this poem in the Phoenix area.
