Herman Yablokoff sued Eden Ahbez over Nature Boy , claiming an infringement of his song called Shvayg mayn harts ("Be Still My Heart"), written and published in 1935. The suit was settled out of court with Yablokoff receiving $25,000 and waiving rights to Nature Boy.
Retrospectively, one could argue Yablokoff wasn't entitled to any compensation, since his composition Shvayg mayn harts was itself based on an element of the second movement ("Dumka") of Antonín Dvořák's Piano Quintet No. 2. And this is exactly the part can be found in Nature Boy . - Published by
