- This piece, also known as "Funeral March of a Marionette", was written in 1872 for solo piano and orchestrated in 1879 by the composer himself. It has been used to accompany several silent films and in radio programs. However, it is best known as the theme for the popular television series "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", which originally aired from 1955 to 1965.
