In English: Counting the Goats. Also sometimes titled by its first line "Oes Gafr Eto?" [Is There Another Goat?].
This is a competitive singing cumulative song becoming a tongue-twister and a feat of memory as the number of choruses grow and the speed of singing increases with successive colours of goat (white, black, red, blue, etc, usually ending at pink).
The publication date above refers to the Journal of the Welsh Folk Song Society, which collected its version from W.S. Jones in Llanllyfni. Other versions have been collected in Anglesey and elsewhere in north Wales. The earliest known reference to the song is mention in a letter dated 1799. - Licensing
