Heavily based on an extensive sample from Isaac Hayes' Our Day Will Come recording and originally credited to 3D, Daddy G, Mushroom, Bob Hilliard and Mort Garson, later issues of the "Mezzanine" album only credit it to Hilliard and Garson - the latter two, having written "Our Day Will Come", had both passed away before the "Mezzanine" release, Although the sample itself had been cleared with the phongraphic right holders, one of the widows refused allowing it refering to the shares in the copyrights in the original work she held.
As Massive Attack obviously added a lot to both music and lyrics, we, despite legal agreements concluded after the release of "Mezzanine", decided to add "Exchange" as an adaptation of "Our Day Will Come" (rather than a cover version or a work in its own rights). - Licensing
