- From the 1927 operetta Der Zarewitsch. The "Wolgalied" has become one of the best-known Schlager in operetta history with its combination of melodic simplicity and poignant sentimentality. The work was used by Nobel-prize winner Günter Grass in his book "Mein Jahrhundert" as one of the chapters: each chapter in "My Century" is only a few pages long and focuses on a single year from 1900-1999.
