Originally a song written in 1834 to unify the Slavic nations and accepted as the pan-Slavic anthem at a congress in Prague in 1848. From 1939 to 1945, it was the national anthem of Slovakia. After WW II, the song, as "Hej Slaveni", became the national anthem of Yugoslavia (SFRJ).
