- Rydberg's most famous poem with the following first line "Midvinternattens köld är hård" (The cold winter night is hard). It was published in the "Ny Illustrerad Tidning" in the issue of February 1881. While outwardly being an idyllic Christmas poem it in fact asks about the meaning of life.
