Wendell Hall recorded this song as "It Ain't Gonna Rain No Mo'" in 1923. He credited himself as songwriter and many of the early releases did as well, while many researchers date the song prior to Hall's recording with no known author. Hall received a copyright in 1941 "on new words for choruses & extra verses", but that's because he released subsequent versions of this song with additional parts, not necessarily because his 1923 recording was an adaptation. Given the uncertainty SHS is crediting Unknown + Wendell Hall.
Partial lyrics - Oh the night was dark and dreary And the air was full of sleet, When the old man stood out in the storm And his shoes were full of feet!
Oh, it ain't a-gonna rain no mo', no mo', It ain't a-gonna rain no mo'. But how in the world can the old folks tell It ain't a-gonna rain no mo'?
