American, Song and Reel. USA; southwestern Va, western North Carolina. First recorded on October 18, 1929 by the Roanoke Jug Band as "Johnny Lover", and featured some square dance calls (which were prevalent at the time in most fiddle tune recordings).
Another fiddle tune with lyrics, Fall on My Knees, has essentially the same tune. - Licensing
