aka "The Dying Preacher". Old-time hymn and fiddle tune dating back to the late 1700s/early 1800s. It was published in William Walker's 1835 tunebook The Southern Harmony, and he claimed credit for it. Many think he just arranged it and that it was likely written by someone in the Hicks family, with many speculating it was Berryman Hicks. In modern day it was in the repertoire of Doc Watson's father-in-law, Gaither Carlton. Watson and Carlton have a registry for the song but it long pre-dated them.
