Comments
Folk song published in newspapers circa 1880. It is typically set to the tune of Will Hays' "The Little Old Log Cabin in the Lane". The song was purportedly written by South Dakotan Oliver Edward (O.E.) Murray, but Jack Thorp published a version of the song in his 1908 book, Songs of the Cowboys, titled "Little Adobe Casa" and he attributed it to a Tom Beasley written in 1887. The intial releases either credited Traditional or no one.

Synopsis - The singer admits, "I'm looking rather seedy while holding down my claim." His little sod shanty is made of poor materials and is infested by mice. He recalls the easier life out east, and wishes a girl would join him.
