- Slim Willet, a country music deejay at radio station KRBC in Abilene, TX at the time, received a letter from a soldier stationed in Korea requesting a song for his sweetheart back in Abilene. The soldier sent along a message asking his love to stay true and not let stars get in her eyes. That letter inspired Willet to compose a love song, titled “Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes.”
