From the movie Murder at the Vanities under the title "Sweet Marijuana". The song was actually copyrighted under the name shown above, and was relatively soon thereafter changed to "Lotus Blossom".

At the time this movie was released, marijuana's legality in the United States varied by state, and marijuana was prescribed by physicians for medicinal use. Today, most copies of the film delete the "Sweet Marijuana" number.

This was the first film in which Kitty Carlisle appeared as an actress. She says that at the time the "Sweet Marijuana" number was shot, she didn't know what marijuana was and believed it to be a type of Mexican instrument.
