Before adding a performance to the database, and all its related entities, verify whether it hasn't been posted as submission already. To check if there is already a submission:
- Check out the artist page of the covering artist
- Check out the work page of the covered work
- Use the general search function, and check the Contributions tab
Always start from the submission if your search has revealed there is a submission for the performance you plan to add.
If for some reason an editor created a performance overseeing the older submission, he must link both retroactively using the register performance feature.
On the rare occasion where there are 2 old open submissions unlinked to a newly created submission, register the earliest submission to the performance and reject the later submission as duplicate.
