Actor and singer born in Mannheim, the son of a Jewish pastry baker. He was destined to be his father's succesor, but his interest was in operette. He remained relatively unknown in Germany until he went to The Netherlands, where he settled in The Hague in 1928 and had his own company "De Fritz Hirsch Operette". This theatre company was enormously successful in producing performance of German operettes, often presenting famous operette stars like Richard Tauber. who was a regular guest between 1929 and 1933. He died in concentration camp Mauthausen in 1942.
