German-Italian writer with an Italian father and a German mother born in Rom. His family moved to Berlin when he was two years old. As a dramaturge of the avant-garde Piscator-Bühne he edited theatrical productions with Bertolt Brecht to introduce adaptions of novels Like "Die Abenteuer des braven Soldaten Schwejk" (1928). He also wrote lyrics for which Kurt Weill composed the musice (e.g. Muschel von Margate or Petroleum Song) to the book "Konjuktur" by the journalist and writer Léo Lania.
