- Pop singer from Detroit, Michigan. In 1959, when she was only 12-years-old, she was already a well-known popular singer in the Detroit area. By the early 1960s she was recording for Coral. By 1966 she was singing in nightclubs in New York City where she was "discovered" by the New Christy Minstrels. She became a member of that group in 1967.
