- Blues singer and songwriter. A savvy business-woman, Ida Cox was one of the most respected blues artists of her era; she wrote all her songs and managed every aspect of her career. She had such a long string of hits during the 1920s and 30s, that when the depression hit she was able to ride it through virtually untouched and performed well into the 1940s.
