The Homeland Harmony Quartet was a gospel vocal group organized in 1935. The original members were Otis McCoy, Doyle Blackwood, Fred C. Maples, and B.C. Robinson. In 1947 Lee Roy Abernathy joined the group and became their leader. They achieved both fame and notoriety after they recorded Abernathy's song, "Gospel Boogie," which incorporated elements of pop music and rhythm and blues.
