He is also a songwriter and storyteller. Hawk is a controversial figure considered a fraud by many Native Americans as he seemingly began to exploit his native ancestry after being forced from out of his position as a Lutheran pastor for having sexual relations with female congregants. Hawk admits to being a recovering sex addict.
