Comments
Prolific composer and songwriter. Chydenius was one of the leading lights of a left-wing avant-garde movement that emerged from the Sibelius Academy in the early to mid 1960s, influenced by composers such as John Cage, Luigi Nono and György Ligeti. Initially working in musical theatre and political cabaret, his compositions include works for stage and screen, operas, choral works, poems set to music and political, romantic and children's songs. His album "Lauluja" was the first LP to be released by the new label Love Records, and in the intervening years several of his songs have become standards in Finland.
