That's a good point. I wasn't sure! It does indeed say "Brought to you by Absolute via Universal". But because the catalogue number was "CDGHOST 1" and the copyright was ascribed to "Ghost London Limited", I thought "self-released" might be safest.
This trade website says "Colin Ingram Limited has formed a record label producing Ghost - The Musical with Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and negotiating distribution agreements with Surfdog in the US and Absolute Marketing in the UK and Universal Records in Korea."
What would you recommend?
First of all, our database structure is not optimalized for handling labels/sublabels/distributors/copyright owners/... So often it's not straightforward how to handle a situation.
Second, I find the following quite convincing:
This trade website says "Colin Ingram Limited has formed a record label producing Ghost - The Musical with Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and negotiating distribution agreements with Surfdog in the US and Absolute Marketing in the UK and Universal Records in Korea."
Based on this I'd say create a label "Ghost London", and write in the public comments "Distributed by Absolute marketing". That way, the next editor stumbling on this entry will not try to correct it.
Bastien - all sorted now. Can I close the error report? Or can only the originator do so?
I can't see any way to close error messages myself. Perhaps I can't when I'm a junior editor? I don't mind - just wanted to see if I could reduce work for you.
Yes I guess that must be the reason. Closed now.
