He he ! Nope. The original was cut in English by Jula De Palma in the late 1957 (Columbia Italiana).

Source: 3-CD box set "Burt Bacharach Greatest Hits - The Story of My Life", compiled by EMI/DISKY NL from many licensings, 724356 485822, 2001 (see att.)

Sure it says 1957, but that's not a recording or a release date. Jula De Palma might as well have released it in 1959: http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Jula-De-Palma/Jula-De-Palma-Magic-Moments-23061959…
