Definitive Arrangements

Probably not feasible to handle other than comments on a performance, but was thinking about definitive arrangements when looking at Hooked on a Feeling .... In my view, there are two common arrangements for this work, namely the original Hooked on a Feeling and the famous cover Hooked on a Feeling .....

Other examples that come to my mind are:

Hello It's Me and Hello It's Me

Runaway and Runaway

Wondering if flagging a cover to a definitive arrangement in some manner is worth the effort....

While there would only be one "definitive performance" of a work, there could be several "definitive arrangements"....

I can feel you, but this "flagging" is too arbitrary. Your examples show this already. But I'm definitely pro "editors and/or users picks" for favourite, original, important or interesting covers, not the dull rating system we have now. There's an internal discussion about this ("highlighting the most significant/interesting covers") and hopefully we'll set it up soon.

I share your concerns on randomness; I'm mostly brainstorming here. On the other hand, "most significant" is far more objective than "most interesting". I may dislike a cover personally, but acknowledge its significance and popularity, often rising to what I call the "definitive version". Two personal examples:

Mickey

Pass the Dutchie

I suppose these concepts will remain proverbial pipes in my dreams.... Smile
