While researching a German language version of the song "Passion Flower" (a 1950s adaptation of Beethoven's "Für Elise"), I found a Spanish version as well - "Ensueno De Amor" by a Mexican group called Trio Los Panchos. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out who wrote the Spanish lyrics. Searching SACM brings up two results for that title, but their database doesn't provide enough information to tie those results to the song in question. Discogs and 45cat aren't any help here either. Anyone have more information about this?

Spanish language translations are not well represented in the copyright databases at all, unlike say German and French. SGAE is pretty hit and miss. If you've searched high and low and still can't find in the copyright databases or on the liner notes/label of the release, then as a last resort you can attribute to [Unknown]. If you're interested, there was a recent discussion here.

PS how is the training going?

Thanks for the help. I'll keep looking and see if I can at least find a picture of the LP or 45 that appeared on and will keep the "Unknown" thing in mind if I can't come up with anything.

Training is going well. I've added a few more covers to the test site since it still hasn't been reset (I can just process them again from my submissions here if that ever does happen).

I've added some feedback on one of your releases. The others looks good. You've really got your head around the database and our site guidelines very quickly indeed.

Have you now done most things on the trainee checklist?

I believe so. There are a few things left that I haven't done but most of the major things I've knocked out at this point.

Great. I’d suggest adding a few more covers on the test database to make sure you’ve tried all the functionality, for example artist and label relations, visual performance and partial adaptations. You should then be ready for the main database.

I found this:

Tema basado en una composición para piano de Beethoven ( Para Elisa ) Letra de Alfredo Gil y arreglo de Perry Botkin

And on the next link Alfredo Gil is also mentioned as the translator.

Was Alfredo Gil one of the two results on SACM ?

Awesome. I'll look into those in the coming days Smile
