This should be a fun project for whoever wants to tackle it. Weird Al just released a polka medley of songs from the musical Hamilton. It's already getting considerable media buzz (both because of Al's popularity and the huge popularity of the musical itself). The video was posted by the official Hamilton YouTube channel and has already received over 400,000 views in less than a week.

Ah... I don't remember anymore what I'm doing... I'll blame it on the bike accident Smile

Hopefully most of the originals are already on the site - Hamilton

That makes it easier. I'll try to get this one myself then. Just need to figure out which songs are included.

I found a list of the songs involved (14 in all) and went to work. It took a bit of time (I had to add 4 or 5 songs and one artist), but it's been added now Smile

Well done, Michael!

However, I wasn't sure why you created a separate adaptation "The Hamilton Polka" rather than just creating the performance as a medley/mash-up of covers of the 14 original works. As you will see from this discussion, the SHS preference is to use medleys, unless (i) the combination of works creates a new work that it is then performed by others, (ii) the works are combined in ways that create a markedly different and new work.

I did that because that's what was done for Polka Party!. I didn't see the warning about that being created before partial adaptations though. I can fix it when I get home tonight

Fair comment.

Bastien - as you added the original Polka Party, what do you think? I thought you wanted to handle such cases as medleys rather than adaptations, at least based on your comments in the discussion on "combination adaptations" that I referenced adaptation?

Polka Face and Power Polka! are both done as medleys. The one I chose was added in 2006, while the other two were added later, so it seems that medleys are the way to go.

Redid it as a medley and deleted the original work.

2 years later we now have an official video of the medley set to the corresponding scenes from the musical. Thanks to Disney releasing a film version of the musical on Disney+, it's suddenly popular again Tongue
