"Mind on the Road" by Rev Run

Found this tonight. WhoSampled says it samples the Joan Jett & The Blackhearts version of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll", but ASCAP actually includes credits for the two guys who wrote that song in addition to Joseph Simmons (Run). Is this actually a sample or just meant to sound exactly like Joan Jett's version?

I can't speak as to the clip at hand, but I have seen ASCAP credit for the sample. Someone to Call My Lover comes to mind:

Ok, so that one credits the writer of the song that they sampled as well. I'll just go with a similar setup for this as well unless we find it's not a direct sample.

As it turns out, the label for the single specifically says it contains samples from the Joan Jett version, so problem solved there...
