Took care of that one. Don't know how I missed it.

Followed up on a hunch and ended up with 4 new works, 4 new releases and 2 new artists (plus a mental note to follow up on one of the works to find more covers as it apparently was pretty popular).

And this all started because I found a missing Bee Gees cover on Duisend en Een.

The fun of it.

Found a Latvian album of country covers so added all 13 today.

But 7 of those were covers of originals not on site.

So added the 7 originals as well - and not obscure artists either - Vince Gill, Raul Malo, etc.

Recently decided to look up a Spanish version of "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies. This brought me to Mexican group Los Rockin Devil's, and I've since found dozens of covers by them that aren't on site yet. It seems they covered just about anything that was popular, no matter how ridiculous the original was (such as "The Hair on my Chinny Chin Chin" by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs). I'm not even close to being done yet, and one cover I found was also recorded by two other Mexican groups around the same time.

Quite a variety of artists covered on that release too. Who knew that Michael Martin Murphey would appeal to audiences in eastern Europe?

I had forgotten but the original Murphey work was submitted by me as well as the cover in Estonian and Czech.

Got started down another "budget label soundalike covers" rabbit hole, this time with Bell. Added several missing releases and will do more in the coming days as I have time.

With a Spanish title no less. The fun things you find 🙂

Geez, my concept of a rabbit hole seems to be different than others. To me, a classic rabbit hole starts with some odd find (e.g. a Romanian cover of some English hit song), which ends up with me reviewing lots of releases by a number of Romanian artists yielding 20+ "new" covers, adaptions from many different "new" artists.

Accidentally wandered down another rabbit hole tonight. The strange and mysterious world of RCA Camden's "Living ..." groups of the late 60s/early 70s. It started when I found an instrumental cover of "Gimme Dat Ding" by Living Trio. Apparently the group was a studio group assembled by RCA Camden, and one of numerous "Living" groups that put out music on that label at the time.

It's going to take me a while to sort through all of this as I've found at least 5 or 6 albums by Living Trio alone.

Added artist relations for the 6 other "Living" artists I've found on site so far (Brass, Jazz, Marimbas, Guitars, Strings and Voices). Also added a second Living Trio album. Will add more as I come across them.

Added some more Living Trio albums tonight. We're up to 5 so far and there's one more on Discogs I haven't gotten to yet. I also found at least one Living Marimbas album not on site yet...

Added one more Living Trio album. Still need to do their Christmas album and see if there are any others not listed on Discogs. After that I'll fill in any other missing "living" albums

Finished up Living Marimbas and added a Gershwin album by Living Strings and Living Voices (which contains the 2148th version of "Summertime", counting adaptations)

My latest "rabbit hole"... RCA Victor's "Stereo Action" series from the early 1960s. A series of mostly instrumental albums designed to show off the capabilities of stereophonic hi fi equipment (and thus sell more RCA hi fi systems of course). Best experienced with headphones on. Here's a sample from Dick Schory's Percussion and Brass Ensemble.

Found an instrumental version of a song titled "Petite" that wasn't on site yet. Ended up adding 3 new works, 3 new releases and 4 new performances.

Filling in most of the missing performances on Peggy March's album Mein Lied für Peggy has led me down a couple different rabbit holes...

First one: Bert Kaempfert's theme from the film 90 Minuten nach Mitternacht. Became better known as "Love After Midnight" following the addition of English lyrics by Joe Seneca and a recording by Patti Page in early 1964. 9 versions and two adaptations are now on site (4 instrumental, 4 English and Peggy March's recording of the German adaptation).

The deeper one is more fun. Also on the Peggy March album is a tune called "Walzer der Einsamkeit", a German adaptation of a Bent Fabric tune. Doing some research I found that the original is the theme from a 1969 Danish film titled Tænk på et tal and that two other adaptations exist, both recorded by Grethe Ingmann ("Where Did the Swallows Go" in English and "Hvor du er henne nu?" in Danish). The album with the Danish version was already on site and I've added the English one. Don't have time to go through both albums and add the remaining missing performances at the moment, but it's a start Smile
