Trying to track down the original version of a song written by Jerry Reed called "I Wish I'd Stayed In Bed". I've managed to find three versions of it so far - one by Don Bowman, one by Bill Carlisle and one by "Jiggles & The Zanies", but I'm not sure who did it first. The version by The Zanies would be from the mid-60s. The Zanies version showed up in 1963 and the Don Bowman one is from 1965. I've only found the Bill Carisle one on two releases - a 2008 "Best Of" album and No Help Wanted from 2016, both of which were released well after he died.

Don't forget Ben Colder on Big Ben Strikes Again (1966) signed Reed.

Jerry Reed Hubbard's copyright is from 1963, so assumably Jiggles & The Zanies from Dec 1963 (Billboard) is your original. I found no recording of Reed himself, he wrote for others at the time (Brenda Lee, The Ardells, Porter Wagoner, ...).

That certainly makes things a bit more interesting considering nobody seems to have any info on who exactly The Zanies (and, in this case, "Jiggles") were. They put out some fun stuff though (my personal favorite being "The Mad Scientist").
