Hello.
I have seen most countries in SHS are listed under their most common informal name.
But a few of them are listed using their complete official name and there are also a couple using deprecated names.
Since this already happened with the two Koreas, where after I posted some errors their names were changed from the official form to the most common South and North Korea, I would like to propose changing the name of other countries to most common and easier versions:
My suggestions would be changing:
Iran, Islamic Republic of to Iran
French Polynesia to Tahiti
Lao People's Democratic Republic to Laos
Macedonia, The Former Yugoslav Republic of to North Macedonia (new name, the older one was deprecated after a political agreement with Greece)
Moldova, Republic of to Moldova
Palestine, State of to Palestine
Russian Federation to Russia
Swaziland to Eswatini (officially renamed in 2018)
Syrian Arab Republic to Syria
Taiwan, Province of China to Taiwan (Besides the simplification, considering them a Province of China is a political stance that goes against the will and reality of the Taiwanese people).
Tanzania, United Republic of to Tanzania
Viet Nam to Vietnam
Just as we don't use official names like United States of America, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or Sweden, Kingdom of, there's no need to use the official and complete names of all the countries listed above.
The only one I would keep is Micronesia, Federated States of because Micronesia alone is also a region in Oceania.
