Going through the 2003 Christmas album by legendary Christian rock artist Larry Norman, I noticed his version of Auld Lang Syne has additional lyrics that aren't typically included in the traditional version. I looked at the credits in Spotify and they credit a "D.M. Maclean" in addition to Robert Burns. Looking up a song by that name credited to a "Maclean" in ISWC brings up a "Douglas Menzies Maclean", aka Dougie MacLean. However, MacLean's version isn't treated as an adaptation.

MacLean's version includes lyrics in what appears to be Scottish English (mixture of Scottish and English words), but his version is treated as a standard cover rather than an adaptation. I haven't looked to see if anyone else has done something similar, but Larry Norman's version includes most of the lyrics that MacLean's version has. Should this actually be treated as an adaptation?
