Why Do Fools Fall in Love

***Updated Information - June 2009***: I was fortunate to receive a direct reply from the lead singer of the group, Carol, and this is what she had to say regarding the song:
"My name is Carol Hawkins, lead singer in the "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" cut by the Shondelles. The other girls in the group were Lynn Brown, Rhonda Kirby, and Brenda Harris. We were in our early teens at the time. Norman Seldon of Red Bank, New Jersey heard us at a high school talent show and eventully got us to record in NYC. I believe that was in 1963. The flip side was his original song call "Upsetter of My Heart."
Sincerely,
Carol Hagins (Hawkins)

Here is what I had originally listed in the info section, before Carol contacted me - Walter:
Hard to find information on this group and the song (other than it has been recorded countless times by others).
There was a girl group named The Shondells who recorded for King Records (and are included on a wonderful Ace compilation "The Queens Of King") but I don't think this is the same group as they don't sound anything alike to me.
I got this track off an obscure girl group cd compilation and I'm not even sure if the name was misspelled as "elles" when it should have been "ells" - if anyone has any info on this group I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
