- Traditional song related to the 1860 song, "I'm a Jolly Bachelor." The lyrics to the song "The Old Bachelor" were first referenced in print in the 1887 newspaper "Dighton Republic" in Kansas. Chubby Parker first recorded this song in 1927. The Carter Family covered it in 1938 and A.P. Carter registered it as his own work so the song is often incorrectly assumed to be a Carter Family original.
