- English singer, trumpet player and whistler born in Stanley, County Durham. One of his most well-known whistling achievements was as soloist whistler on "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" main theme to the original 1966 version by Ennio Morricone, although this is also sometimes incorrectly accredited to Alessandro Alessandroni. He also sang the theme tune to the American TV series "Wagon Train".
