- Dutch chamber orchestra founded in 1988 as "Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam" with Lev Markiz as its first artistic director. In 1995 Candida Thompson became their concertmaster followed by her appointment as artistic director in 2003. As of that season the orchestra changed its name to "Amsterdam Sinfonietta" and became an orchestra without a conductor, only inviting one if needed for certain projects.
