Composer of operettas like Na tý louce zelený and Auf der grünen Wiese, film music and schlagers, who was very successful in the 1920s and 1930s in the German-speaking world. He married a German woman and showed sympathy for the Nazi ideas, which made him persona non grata in post-war Czechoslovakia. He spent his last days as a pianist in a wine bar in Vienna.
