Politician who served as the 40th governor of Louisiana from 1928 to 1932 and as a member of the United States Senate from 1932 until his assassination in 1935. Born in north Louisiana and nicknamed "The Kingfish". Musically remembered for co-writing several LSU school songs including "Touchdown for LSU,” "The LSU Cadets March" and "Darling of LSU", as well as for "Every Man a King", which was his campaign song.
