Jimmy Long was a friend and co-worker of Gene Autry when Gene worked as a railroad telegrapher. Gene and Jimmy were both enthusiastic fans of Jimmie Rodgers and the two performed and wrote songs together. Jimmie long also introduced Gene to his nice, Ina Mae Spivey, who shortly afterward married Gene.
