How does the search function work? Will this artist be returned whether "and" or "&" is used?
VV > Please take these kind of questions to the forum instead.
My question re: "and" and "&" is directly related to this error. If the search function treats the same, then the alias should just be deleted. If they are not treated the same, then perhaps the alias should remain but be changed from public to hidden.
Then how SHS works isn't correct in this case. You of all people should already know the answer to the "and" vs. "&" question prior to expecting a specific resolution to this error. If SHS wants the same search returns, then if the logic treats the same the resolution is deletion. If it doesn't, the resolution is a hidden alias. The correct choice is direct and material to the specific error at hand.
If SHS doesn't want the same search returns, then the resolution is only deletion. A situation easily established by your confirmation of the SHS position on and/&.
If the and/& question has not been considered, then the resolution is likely editor preference. If important enough, then also properly in the forum as a general question best started by you as Management; however, I would likely add my thoughts on the matter, including a reference to this thread.
For the record, I tried the search with both "and" and "&" and got Joan Jett in both cases so I think it's okay the alias was deleted. Good question though.
