This song was covered by the 1960s garage band, The Great Scots and appears on "The Great Lost Great Scots Album!!!" on Sundazed, SC 11048. In fact, the CD is a collection of unreleased material and Great Scots' singles. The informational booklet that accompanies the CD states "Blue Monday" was originally released as a 45 RPM single on the Challenge label, bearing catalog number TR-66. No original release date appears in the booklet for the single,but it does give a recording date of may, 1966.
